Jeet Kune Do History

Bruce Lee studied many avenues in the martial arts, but he stuck to a combination of three styles which over time he modified through simplification. Wing Chun, fencing and western boxing were combined by Bruce to guide him to the essence of martial art... his primal state of being.

Jeet Kune Do is the Ultimate Reality in combat. It relies on four basic principles to express this "Philosophy in Motion":

  1. Simplicity
  2. Economy of Motion
  3. Longest Weapon, Nearest Target
  4. Always Think 0f Hitting

Many are confused, thinking that Jeet Kune Do is an eclectic melting pot of individualized styles, but that is very far from what Bruce taught. He sought energy conservation through economy, leading to maximum effort driven by simplification, leaving only the longest weapon to attack the nearest target through an expression built to hit.
